Abstract

In Part 1 of this series, we discussed how to obtain the median formula. In this article, we will discuss how the same formula can be derived from the corresponding ogive, the graph mapping the cumulative frequencies against the upper (or lower) class-limits. Since there are two kinds of ogives viz. (i) less than and (ii) more than, we will show how either can be used for this purpose. In addition, we will discuss why the ogives intersect at the median.
