Abstract

This commentary analyses the US Supreme Court’s decision in 303 Creative LLC v. Elenis, which upheld a web designer’s refusal to provide services for same-sex weddings on religious grounds. It argues that the ruling risks weakening protections against discrimination and limiting LGBTQIA+ rights in the name of religious and expressive freedom. The article situates the decision within broader US constitutional jurisprudence and considers its potential implications for individual liberty, equality and anti-discrimination protections internationally.
