Abstract

This article explores the lives, history and relationship with the landscape of the Korku Adivasi community in the Satpura hills of Melghat, Maharashtra. It describes the region’s forests, wildlife and ecological significance while highlighting the Korkus’ long-standing presence and dependence on the landscape. The article provides insight into Adivasi identity, traditional habitation and the relationship between indigenous communities and their natural environment.
