Abstract
The article examines Birsa Munda’s Ulgulan (1895–1900) as a landmark movement of Adivasi resistance against colonial rule, land dispossession and exploitation in the Chotanagpur region. It highlights his efforts to revive Munda social and political identity, the movement’s influence on Adivasi political consciousness, and its contribution to subsequent legal protections such as the Chotanagpur Tenancy Act of 1908 and later struggles for Jharkhand statehood.
