India denied the issue of ‘honour’ crimes for very long. Earlier this issue was associated only with khap panchayats. Reported cases from all over India highlighted its severity. This paper proposes to explore the missing link of young adults in the discourse of ‘honour’ crimes in India. It deals with the questions like: What are the patterns of ‘honour’ crimes in India? Is there a uniformity? Why do cases involving young adults hardly get recognized in the existing legal discussions on ‘honour’ crimes? It has been observed that in India, ‘honour’ crimes are not only limited to elopement/marriage, but young adults are killed even for phone calls or dressing up. The notion of ‘honour’ assigned to the sexuality of youngsters leads to layers of visible and invisible violence for ‘honour’ culminates brutally in the events of elopements/marriages.
