Abstract
Sociologist Prof. K Kalyani teaches at the School of Arts and Sciences at Azim Premji University in Bengaluru. She researches numerous aspects of social inequality, ranging from gender to intersectionality and cultures of caste. In this phone interview with Pragya Singh, she explains how the caste census, recently announced by the central government, can help change the understanding of how caste truly operates in Indian society today.
