Abstract

The article focuses on how extreme and very preterm birth disrupts early gut microbiome development, increasing infants' vulnerability to serious diseases. Topics include the challenges of preterm neonatal care, the link between microbiome disturbance and conditions such as necrotising enterocolitis, and the critical role of mother's own milk in supporting healthy microbial and immune development.
