Abstract

Most in-company research labs are interested in applied research, and short-to-medium-term results, and do not take moonshots. Their research is understandably focused on solutions for today’s problems. It is the universities that engage in research to solve the problems of tomorrow. An honourable exception to this was Bell Labs.
