Abstract
Social media occupies an increasingly important place in research in language learning (Cachia, 2008; McBride, 2009; Kaplan & Haenlein, 2010). It fosters positive relationships among students and enhances the credibility of teachers
engaged in contemporary student culture (Garrison & Kanuka, 2004). This article attempts to situate Facebook (FB) in the broader area of computer mediated learning and within the specific area of computer assisted language learning.
