Abstract

In Durgapur GP, all the structures meant for taking decisions democratically have been kept functional. Every sansad of the GP met at least twice in the year 2011-12 as required under the Panchayat Act of the state. No meeting had to be postponed for want of quorum. Participation of women in these meetings was better than that of men and Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes have participated more than others. People took part in the discussions on various issues including preparation of beneficiary list of different schemes, use of untied fund, GP audit etc.
