Abstract
The article examines the impact of the NRLM–MGNREGS–CFT convergence pilot in Jharkhand on women’s participation and empowerment under the rural employment guarantee programme. It highlights how placing women’s collectives at the centre of planning, implementation and monitoring increased women’s participation, strengthened their role in local governance and expanded their presence in public spaces. The article argues that women-centred implementation can make NREGA more effective and transparent while challenging traditional perceptions of women’s roles.
