Abstract

The article examines the Gram Panchayat Help Desk (GPHD) initiative in Jharkhand as a mechanism for improving access to government welfare schemes among rural and economically vulnerable communities. Using the experience of a widow in Bokaro district, it illustrates the practical barriers faced by rural residents in accessing social security benefits and highlights how collaboration between PRADAN and Gram Panchayats can bridge administrative gaps, reduce access barriers and strengthen last-mile welfare delivery.
