Abstract

The commentary examines the challenges facing the contemporary humanitarian protection regime, particularly its principles of neutrality, impartiality and independence. It explores how humanitarian aid for refugees and stateless populations can become entangled with geopolitical interests, international law and state agendas. The article calls for a locally integrated approach to humanitarian protection that prioritises the needs, agency and rights of displaced and stateless communities.
