Abstract

The article critiques the inauguration of India’s new Parliament building as a carefully staged political spectacle rather than a purely constitutional occasion. It examines the prominence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the use of religious symbolism including the Sengol, the absence of President Droupadi Murmu, and the Opposition boycott, arguing that the event reflects the growing personalization of political power and the intertwining of democratic institutions with ideological and religious symbolism.
