Abstract
The article examines the marginalization of disadvantaged students within India’s elite educational institutions, arguing that formal inclusion does not necessarily ensure social equality. It highlights the structural discrimination, alienation and humiliation experienced by Dalit, Adivasi and other marginalized students, using student suicides in institutions such as IITs, NITs and IIMs to illustrate the persistent inequalities embedded in India’s higher education system.
